648. Newton J. RHOADS^2,34,79 was born on 26 Nov 1873 in Amity Township, Berks Co., PA. He died on 5 Apr 1917. He was buried in St. Paul's Cemetery, Amity Township, PA. Educated in the public schools at Douglassville and the Amityville Seminary. Learned the trade of a miller; but the dust affected his health. Then worked as a butcher for three years till he was made Amity Township supervisor. On December 1901 he took over operation of the "Washington House" at Amityville. (Later became the Amity House, and about 1992 was torn down). He was a member of Washington Camp 213, P.O.S. of A., Monocacy Lodge # 444, I.O.O.F. and attended the Amityville Reformed Church. His son's obit referred to him as Isaac. 1880 Census has him as Newton O. Daughter Mary's marriage record has Nenton J. All before invention of typewriter.

Newton J. RHOADS and Louisa BELLES were married on 15 Sep 1894. Louisa BELLES^2,34 was born on 8 Jul 1872 in Richmond Township, Berks Co., PA. She died on 14 Dec 1943. She was buried in St. Paul's Cemetery, Amity Township, PA. Daughter of William Belles and Fietta Greth of Richmond Township. She was reared in the family of Judge Sassaman. Newton J. RHOADS and Louisa BELLES had the following children:

+1074	i.	Paul N. RHOADS2,4,53,56,73 was born in 1896 in Amityville, Berks Co., PA. He died in Dec 1979 in Reading, PA. He was buried in Oley Cemetery, Spangsville, Berks Co., PA. Paul was a meat cutter when he married. He later moved into Reading and operated a grocery store at 524 N. 8th Street, Reading until he retired in 1952. He last resided in Colony Park on Salem Road. He was admitted to Berks Heim in April 1968.
+1075	ii.	David W. RHOADS2,34,73 was born in 1897. He died in 1965. He was buried in St. Paul's Cemetery, Amity Township, PA. David was a butcher from Athol (Amityville) when he married. Caught a notice of his marriage in the Reading Eagle. I believe he was married in Reading, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Strunk. Seemed odd to me the evening paper covered a wedding at 7 pm, so wedding may have been on the 5th.
+1076	iii.	Mary C. RHOADS2,4,73,100 was born on 5 Apr 1900 in Amity Township, Berks Co., PA. She died in Dec 1987 in Douglass Township, Berks Co., PA. She was buried in St. Paul's Cemetery, Amity Township, PA.
1077	iv.	Maud B. RHOADS2,73 died before 1979. Married to Raymond G. Goodhart in May 1923. Record 68/372
1078	v.	Pearl M. RHOADS2,73 died after 1979. Married Clayton Faust, resided in Amityville, PA.
1079	vi.	Edna Belles RHOADS73,100 was born on 29 Feb 1912. She died on 7 Aug 1998. Married to Geral Henry Kupp of Reading. Geral died in January 2001 at age 90.
