460. Henry N. SCHWARTZ² was born on 23 Mar 1846 in Reading, PA. On January 29, 1864, Henry enlisted at Reading with the Durell Battery, Pennsylvania Volunteer Artillery. He saw action in the Battle of the Wilderness and the siege of Petersburg. After the war he tried farming for eight years and then turned to hotel operation. He conducted the "Five Mile House" and then with his brother William, built the "Summit House" on Mt. Penn.

Henry N. SCHWARTZ and Mary BICKEL were married in 1867. Mary BICKEL² was born about 1847. Daughter of Elias Bickel and Mary Rothenberger of Heidelberg Township.
