707. Edward Alonzo REIDER Jr.^4,26,87 was born on 25 May 1906 in Reading, PA. He died on 26 Jan 2003 in Wyomissing, PA. He was buried in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, PA. Edward was an estimator when he married. Edward received and ran the family business of Edward A. Reider Building Contractor. He passed the operation of the business on to his son; however after his son's death he sold the business.


Edward Alonzo Reider Jr., retired president of a Wyomissing construction firm, died Jan. 26 at 7:20 p.m. in his residence on Parkside Drive North, Wyomissing. Reider, 96, was predeceased by his first wife, Verne M. (Bomberger) Reider, in 1982, and by his second wife, Martha (Dickert) DeMoss Reider, in 1994. He joined Edward A. Reider Inc., Wyomissing, in 1962 and later served as its president for many years until his retirement. Reider's firm erected many important buildings in Berks County, including schools, businesses and institutions. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Edward A. Reider Sr. and Anna (Beyler) Reider. Reider was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Reading. He was a 1924 graduate of Reading High School and attended Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh. Reider served on the board of the Berks County Association for the Blind. He was a 32nd degree Mason of St. John's Lodge 435, F&AM, Reading. Reider was a former
member of Wyomissing Borough Council. He won several awards for his rose entries from the American Rose Society. Surviving is a stepson, George C. DeMoss, Wyomissing. Other survivors include a sister, M. Virginia Reider, Reading; four grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, James A. Reider in 1968 and Edward A. Reider III in 1977. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Henninger Funeral Home

Ed was a Civil Engineer, a graduate from Lehigh University. He was the Vice President of the family business, Edward A. Reider Building Construction, at 521 Van Reed Road, Wyomissing, PA. Ed's hobby was flying. He started building a Turner T40A single engine aircraft in 1969. He had been flying the plane for about a year before leaving Reading airport for a experimental plane convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. While trying to land at Valparaiso airfield, in Indiana, the plane hit high voltage wires and crashed, killing Ed and his son Robert.
+1016	ii.	James Allen REIDER15,87 was born on 9 Nov 1931 in Reading, PA. He died on 6 Jan 1968 in Brooklyn, NY. Jim Allen was a 1949 graduate from Reading High School. He attended Peabody School of Music in Baltimore, MD. He lived in Brooklyn, NY, where he was a tenor saxophonist. He played in bands of Woody Herman, Les Elgart, Claude Thornhill, Mose Allison and Jerry Mulligan. Jim and Deborah had two children: Alan Joseph Reider and Eve L. Reider.

Edward Alonzo REIDER Jr. and Martha DICKERT were married about 1949. Martha DICKERT^15,87 was born on 18 Feb 1907. She died on 29 Dec 1994. She was buried in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, PA. Martha had a son by her first husband, Mr. DeMoss, he was George C. DeMoss, Wyomissing.
