He was baptized on 12 Oct 1830 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading, PA. He died on 10 Mar 1904 in Hamburg, PA. He was buried in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg, PA. James started work with the Reading Railway Company in 1849 as a section laborer. In 1850 he was made foreman and laid track in Philadelphia from Columbia bridge to Broad Street. In 1853 he went to Richmond, VA to supervise laying of all tracks and switchs. He returned to Reading, than Hamburg, back to Philadelphia and finally returned to Hamburg as a supervisor, a position he held till he retired in 1887. He was in poor health for four years and bedfast for eight weeks before dieing at home. He was the oldest member of Vaux Lodge No. 406, Free and Accepted Masons, Hamburg Encampment No. 106, I.O.O.F. and the First Reformed Church. I had died 1902 but Berks County death records have 1904. She died on 6 May 1894. She was buried in St. John's Union Church,
Kutztown, PA. Went by Lizzie. 1870 Census supports she was born
