W. BROTZMAN1 was born
in 1745 in Williams Township, Northampton Co., PA. He died in Mar
1826 in Tioga County, PA. Nicholas established a homestead in Lower
Smithfield Twp., Northampton Co., PA. Approximately 1800, Nicholas and sons,
Nicholas Jr., Johann Adam, and Jacob, moved to Tioga County, PA. Nicholas bought
land along the Tioga river for a new homestead and died there 1826. Gertrude
remained at the Lower Smithfield property with three other sons and the daughters.
Johann Adam and Jacob were later recorded as pioneers in Steuben County, New
York, where they eventually died. Nicholas Jr. also died in New York state.
Son George Heinrich also left the Lower Smithfield Homestead, for Wayne County,
Ohio. There is no evidence that Nicholas and Gertrude ever saw each other again
after Nicks departure in 1800. Gertrude, also known as "Charity",
died after 1830, at the original homestead.
Nicholas W. BROTZMAN and Gertrude HERTZEL were married about 1767.
Gertrude HERTZEL1
was born on 24 Dec 1740. She died in 1830 in Lower Smithfield Township,
PA. Gert's parents were Leonhardt Hertzel and Magdalena Therin.
