Second Generation

6. George Christian BROTZMAN1,4,5 was born on 4 May 1734 in Württemberg. He immigrated on 28 Aug 1750 to Philadelphia, PA. He died on 29 Oct 1817 in Reading, PA. He was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. Arrived in America on the ship "Phoenix". It is believed that because of their age, Konrad and Christian remained behind when father Johann Frederick brought his family to America. It is thought the Fichthorn family raised the boys in Wurttemberg. He was a member of the Berks Militia during the Revolutionary War, private 7th class, 2nd Company, 4th Battalion; and is listed as being fined in 1777 and 1778, 12 pounds and 10 shillings, for failing to make muster. He paid Col. Jacob Morgan. I believe he lived in Exeter Township prior to 1800. Later children were baptized at Schwarzwald Church, and probably so were early children. It just happens that early events at Schwarzwald were recorded at Reading churchs. The 1806 Reading City directory has Christian living on Franklin St., between 3rd and Apple. His neighbor, Michael East would be a witness to his will written in 1815. Had seven children with Maria, three were child or infant deaths, have only a record of last infant death. Presumed buried in downtown First Reformed Church cemetery which has since been removed. His will was submitted for probate on 25 Nov 1817. He was listed as a fisherman.

Probable daughter of Andreas Fichthorn, of Nünschweiler; he emigrated in 1751.
