454. Charles K. GRIESEMER1,15,53 was born on 12 July 1864 in Oley Township, Berks Co., PA. He was baptized in August 1864 in Salem Reformed Church, Spangsville, Berks Co., PA. He died on 19 April 1913 in Reading, PA. Charles was buried in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, PA. Sent by his father at age 16 or 17 to Lehigh County, to learn the slate business by working in the quarries of his oldest brother George W. While attending church their, in Lynn Township, he met Catharine "Katie" Kistler. With $75 he loan from a brother in law, Charles and Katie moved to Reading and opened a slate roofing business. Bought a new home in the 500 block of Douglass Street, Reading, which at the time was the new part of town. They would eventually own several homes on Douglass Street. From 1904 to 1913 they lived in a large corner home at Douglass and 5th Streets. Home was sold when Charles died. Charles was a deacon on the first consistory of the Calvary Reformed Church at Centre Avenue and Oley Street. Charles was also a member of the Chandler Lodge, No. 227 of Free and Accepted Masons; Excelsior Chapter, No. 287 of Royal Arch Masons; Reading Commandery, No. 42; and a member of the Knights Templar.

Charles K. GRIESEMER and Catharine A. KISTLER were married on 29 November 1883 in Lehigh County, PA. Catharine A. KISTLER53 was born on 22 April 1864 in Lehigh County, PA. She died on 4 April 1944 in Reading, PA. She was buried in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, PA. Daughter of David J. Kistler and Maria Fetherolf. Married in her mother's home in Steinsville. Lastly resided in one of the homes owned by her family on Douglass Street, Reading. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
