Received 1500 pounds in cash from his father's estate. He built a flouring mill in Exeter Township near the Black Bear Inn, and operated a farm near Griesemersville. Jacob kept family records in his bible, written in German. At the time of his death, he was a Captain in the Berks County Militia. Jacob Hoch GRIESEMER and Rebecca VAN REED were married on 10 December 1820. Rebecca VAN REED1,3 was born on 14 June 1800 in Pennsylvania. She died on 22 March 1824. She was buried in Oley Cemetery, Spangsville, Berks Co., PA. Jacob Hoch GRIESEMER and Rebecca VAN REED had the following children:
