11. Leonard GRIESEMER1,7 was born in 1732 in Hereford Township, Berks Co., PA. He was baptized on 11 June 1732 in New Goshenhoppen Reformed Church, Upper Hanover Twp., Montgomery Co., PA. He died on 5 January 1821 in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery Co., PA. Youngest son of Valentine, was given 50 acres of land, cut from original family homestead in Hereford Township. Neighbor David Shultz surveyed same in 22 March 1759. Although he wound up with the entire homestead. Leonard, in addition to farming, dug red clay from his meadow to make earthenware and clay roof tiles. During the Revolutionary War, Leonard did hauling for the Continental Army. Leonard GRIESEMER and Elizabeth LEFEBRE were married on 30 June 1757 in New Goshenhoppen Reformed Church, Upper Hanover Twp., Montgomery Co., PA. Elizabeth LEFEBRE1 was born on 14 October 1739. She died on 14 January 1814 in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery Co., PA. He died on 26 September 1826 in Indiana. He was buried in Indiana. Johann William moved first to North Carolina. There he married a woman named Elizabeth. It is believed he had seven children in Lincoln County, NC. In 1807 he was in Clark County, Indiana, where he bought 150 acres of land. His last named changed to Grisamore. | 37 | iii. | Catharine GRIESEMER1 was born about 1765 in Hereford Township, Berks Co., PA. Married Abraham Mertz. | 38 | iv. | Johann George GRIESEMER1 was born in 1767 in Hereford Township, Berks Co., PA. Around 1810 he moved to Lockland, Ohio. Like his brothers in Indiana, he changed his name to Grisamore. | 39 | v. | Margaret GRIESEMER1 was born on 17 January 1770 in Hereford Township, Berks Co., PA. Married George Frey, of Limerick Township, on 23 October 1787, in New Goshenhoppen Church. | 40 | vi. | Susannah GRIESEMER1 was born on 14 January 1773 in Hereford Township, Berks Co., PA. She died in November 1773 in Hereford Township, Berks Co., PA. She was buried in New Goshenhoppen Reformed Church, Upper Hanover Twp., Montgomery Co., PA. | 41 | vii. | Jacob GRIESEMER1 was born on 28 November 1774 in Hereford Township, Berks Co., PA. He died on 12 June 1832 in Indiana. He was buried in Indiana. Jacob had an early marriage which ended when he lost his wife and child. He married Sarah Treichler in 1799. He tried farming and pottery on 35 acres in Upper Milford Township, Lehigh County. In 1809 he received 145 acres from his father in Hereford Township. Shortly after this gift, on 10 September 1810, he moved to Clark County, Indiana, to join his brother Johann William. He and his brother founded the first church in the area, initially called Jacob's Chapel. Chapel was later replaced with the New Union Church.
