He and a friend started driving to Washington DC area for one and two week stays, where he found work building new homes. When WW II started, Ed was able to obtain work locally at Ennis Machine Shop, Front Street, Reading. He retired in 1949. Ed was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He died as the result of a heart attack, in the Community General Hospital, Reading. Darius Edward PRUTZMAN and Alice May SLONAKER were married on 29 May 1903 in York County, PA. Alice May SLONAKER13,32 was born on 2 March 1884 in York, PA. She died on 22 January 1911. She was buried in Aulenbach Cemetery, Reading, PA. Daughter of William Martin Slonaker, born 4 Sept. 1857 in York, PA and Mary Ann Butcher, born 1855 in York, PA. Alice died from Tuberculosis. He died on 5 October 1997 in Washington, PA. He was buried in Washington Cemetery, Washington, PA. Bill, as known to his family and friends was born at 1227 Birch Street in Reading, PA. He met his wife Eleanor while they were students at Mount Vernon Academy in Mount Vernon, Ohio. They married shortly after graduating and lived most of their lives in the Washington County, PA area. Bill worked as a bricklayer for 47 years, sometimes his job required traveling and Eleanor ran the family farm when he was away. They gave up the farm and moved to North Port, FL in 1960 but returned to the Washington County area around 1972 where they remained until Bill's death. He was a member of the Gold Card Bricklayers Local. He attended Reading, PA schools, Emmanuel Missionary College in Michigan, and Mount Vernon Academy in Mount Vernon, Ohio, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. | +1153 | ii. | Herl Raymond PRUTZMAN13,32 was born on 18 September 1909 in Shillington, PA. He died on 30 November 1986. He was buried in Aulenbach Cemetery, Reading, PA. Worked for many years as a supervisor at a hosery mill in Elkton, MD. He drove back and forth between Elkton, MD and Lincoln Street, Reading. Later he moved to Lemoyne, near Harrisburg, PA, where he owned and operated the "Carpet House". He and his son "Sonny", operated the store, and when Herl retired to Florida, Sonny continued the business. Herl and Ruth lived for some time in Haines City, FL and then moved to Avon Park, FL, where Herl died from cancer. Ruth returned to Lemoyne, PA. Herl is buried in Aulenbachs Cemetery in an unmarked grave, with his mother Alice. |

She was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Shillington, PA. Daughter of Joel Lloyd Gearhart and Anna Minerva Knepp. Carrie died at the Community General Hospital, Reading. Florence attended school at Pennwyn, near Shillington, PA. She later attended school in Reading. She started college with Columbia Union College, Washington, DC and finally nurses training from 1946 to 1949 in Orlando, Florida. Immediately after nurses training, Florence married Roy Alfred Jorgensen, Jr., after three years of courtship. Flo and Al immediately moved to Michigan where Alfred completed his college. Florence was very involved with family history and maintained family updates via e-mail at her home on Paw Paw Road, Marshall, NC. |
