2. Martin BITTING1,2,3 was born in 1697 in Freinsheim, Palatinate.5 He died on 5 Apr 1756 in Falkner Swamp, Montgomery Co., PA. On July 27, 1727, he bought 100 acres of land in Hanover Twp., bounded by lands of John Steger, Valentine Geiger and John Renberger. This is today's New Hanover Township He was a miller, and in 1742 he applied for a license to operate an Inn at his house, now located on the new road between Yoder's Mill and the Great Road to Philadelphia. (Swamp Pike from Limerick to Oley Township) At his death he had 307 acres of land and was living at Faulkner's Swamp. Place of burial not recorded; but was probably Faulkner Swamp Reformed Church.

Martin BITTING and Margaret HILLEGAS were married in 1724. Margaret HILLEGAS3,6 was born about 1700. She died on 18 Sep 1780 in Falkner Swamp, Montgomery Co., PA. She was buried in New Hanover Lutheran Church, Montgomery Co., PA.7 Margaret is claimed by unknown researchers to be a Hillegas; but this fact has not been positively confirmed.

Adam BITTING6,8 was born in 1732 in Falkner Swamp, Montgomery Co., PA. He was confirmed in 1750 in Falkner Swamp Reformed Church, Montgomery Co., PA. He died on 1 Jan 1781 in Morristown, NJ. Adam was a Captain with the 10th PA Regiment of the Continental Army. He was killed during the mutiny of the PA troops on 1 Jan 1781 in Morristown, NJ. Adam married Deborah Sturgeon 1768 in Reading, PA.
