17. Anthony BITTING2,6 was born on 9 May 1743 in Falkner Swamp, Montgomery Co., PA. He died on 13 Jul 1818 in New Hanover Township, Montgomery Co., PA. Colonel Anthony Bitting was accused of interference in the election of Philadelphia County members in October 1781. It was alledged that while Militia was serving at Newtown, Bucks County, a private meeting of officers of the Philadelphia battalions determined the ticket to be voted on and they were to compel the privates to vote in the same manner. The Colonel was also accused of tearing up a ticket of one private, opposed to the "camp ticket." Charges were not sustained by the County Assembly, 32 to 18. Anthony lived in New Hanover Township. He had command of the 4th Battalion, Philadelphia County Militia, 1780 - 1781.

Anthony BITTING and Magdalena GRESH were married about 1780. Magdalena GRESH2,8,13 (daughter of Johan Georg GRESH and Magdalena UNK) was born on 28 Mar 1758. She was baptized on 28 Apr 1758 in New Hanover Lutheran Church, Montgomery Co., PA. She died in 1836. One source has last name as Shimel (Schmehl ?) She was probably married before, but per Bitting web page, she was born a Gresh. Anthony BITTING and Magdalena GRESH had the following children:

Sarah BITTING2,8 was born in 1787. She died in 1865. Possibly the Sara who married George Sensendorfer on 20 May 1806, at New Hanover Lutheran Church.

Archibold BITTING2,8 was born on 15 Sep 1793. He died in 1844.

Anthony BITTING and Mary YEAGER were married in 1765. They were divorced about 1775. Mary YEAGER8 (daughter of Johannes YEAGER and Elizabeth UNK) was born about 1744. She died in 1790. Children: Archibald; Maria widow of Barney Dotterer; and Sarah, wife of George Sensendeffer. Anthony BITTING and Mary YEAGER had the following children:
