The marriage didn't last very long; but shame was avoided. Bessie later married George Durell, in 1897.

Elizabeth FISHER and George Thomas DURELL were married on 2 Nov 1897 in Reading, PA. George Thomas DURELL25,38,64 (son of Edward T. DURELL and Mary UNK) was born on 14 Jun 1868 in Reading, PA. He died on 9 Jun 1946 in Reading, PA. He was buried in Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, PA. George was a "garage man" and member of the Knights of Malta. He served as a Private with the US Army, 3rd Artillery, stationed at the Washington DC barracks. He enlisted for five years on 2 October 1890, and was discharged 18 December 1892, under special order # 293. His discharge paper noted George as 5 feet, 6 inches, hazel eyes and sandy hair. Former occupation was that of a tinsmith. George had gotten married to Mary Estella while in the US Army and was denied re-enlistment in November 1894, due to this marriage. He was granted a divorce from Mary in November 1897, just days before his marriage to Bessie. A number of George's tools remain in the hands of the family, with Guy Bierman. George was living at Freemansville when he died; although the actual death occured at his step daughter's, Ethel Bierman, at 622 Gordon St., Reading. George was the grandson of Capt. Durell, a Civil War hero and commander of Durell's battery.
