He was buried in Friedens Union Cemetery, Oley, PA. Charles served nine months during the Civil War with Company C, 167th PA Volunteers. He worked for his father until he was thirty-five years of age, and then began for himself, on a part of the homestead, there continuing until his death. He owned a fine farm of 170 acres, and was one of the heavy tax payers of Oley township. He was prominent in public affairs and served as school director for three years and as auditor for a like period. His family are Lutheran members of Friedensburg Church, of which Mr. Reiff had been deacon and elder. He was a trustee of the building committee, that erected the present church edifice in 1883.
