Third Generation

17. Esther BERTOLET1,4,7,10 was born on 19 Nov 1749 in Oley Township, Berks Co., PA. She died on 5 Sep 1792 in Oley Township, Berks Co., PA. She was buried in Daniel Bertolet Family Plot, Oley Township, PA.

Esther BERTOLET and Daniel NEUIN were married on 1 Dec 1777 in Oley Township, Berks Co., PA. Daniel NEUIN1,7 (son of Johann Casper NEUIN and Barbara Elizabeth KRAUSS) was born on 4 Feb 1755 in Oley Township, Berks Co., PA. He died on 31 May 1844 in Oley Township, Berks Co., PA. He was buried in Nein Family Cemetery, Oley Township, PA. Daniel was born 1755, at the Nein Homestead. Daniel had obtained his own small farm by 1784, in Douglass Township; but later received the Nein Homestead in 1787, presumably due to Johann Casper's death. Evidence suggests Daniel and Esther had an additional son, to those recorded, who died very young. After Esther's death in 1792, Daniel remarried to Maria Weidner, in 1795. Maria and Daniel had two additional children. Daniel was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. He died in 1844 without a will. Quite a family squabble resulted over who gets the Homestead of 200 acres. A jury trial resulted in an order to sell the farm and devide the proceeds, as it was impractical to physically devide the farm among six survivors. Mary Nine was able to reach a financial settlement with the other family members and take over the Homestead. Esther BERTOLET and Daniel NEUIN had the following children:
